KOPUARAHI. PROPOSED DRAINAGE BOARD. A well attended meeting of settlers was held recently to discuss the proposed di;ainage board. Aft er the proposals had been explained by Mr J. C. Miller it was decided to support ths project. The delegates elected were Messrs W. E. Hale, T. Field, and J. C. Miller. KEREPEEHI. ADDITIONS TO SCHOOL. The Kerepeehi School Committee has received notification that the Education Board has recommended that a grant be given for the erection of another classroom at Kerepeehi school. RIVER IMPROVEMENTS. The new Kingston dredge has commenced widening the river at Kerepeehi. The western bank is being shifted back about sixteen feet. NGATEA. FOOTBALLERS’ BALL. Despite the very unfavourable weather conditions on Wednesday evening the plain and fancy dress masquerade ball, organised by the Ngatea Football Club, was a success. About 50 couples were present, iricluding many from Thames. The hall was tastefully decorated, the floor was in good order, and the music by Williams’ orchestra was excellent. The dance was kept going with a swing, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Extras were played by Miss Appleby, Miss Luke, and Mrs Potter. ‘ Among those in fancy costume were : Mrs Terrill, Chinese lady (first prize) ; Miss Wade, Gipsy girl; Miss Appleby, poppies; Miss W. Gemming, folly; Miss Luke, mascots; Miss PHayward, Norwegian lady; Miss M. Hayward, powder-puff; Miss D. Gemmings, Egyptian lady; Miss Fitzpatrick, Lucifer ; Mrs Potter, bonbon ; Mrs Mclntosh, Queen of Diamonds ; Mirs Smith, knut; Miss Brat.lie, daffodil ; Miss Furness, bat; Miss Mason, Grace Darling; Miss Dent, Japanese lady; Miss Murray, principal boy; Messrs Phelan, Hawaiian belle ; Titchener, Jester ; Dent, jockey (first prize) ; Hutchinson, pierrot; C. Speedy, Chu Chin Chow. The winners of the waltzing competition ■were Miss Furness and Mr Garrick.
