RAIN’S HEALTH DRUNK BY FARMERS. When the rain began to fall at Waubra on Saturday evening, says a Ballarat correspondent, nearly all the agriculturists of the district were assembled in the local public hall is members of the Waubra Farmers’ Cooperative Association. Suddenly a man rushed inside and excitedly stammered in backblock English, "Hey, yous in there, it’s raining.” The agriculturists rose en masse and went out to greet (the rain. They re-entered the hall and, when a sharp fall succeeded the pr ( elimin-< ary drizzle, a member gave the toast, “Gentlemen, the rain.” No after-dinner sentiment was ever drunk more' enthusiastically.
