EMPIRE DAY.

AN AFTERNOON AT SCHOOL. Empire Day was fittingly celebrated at the local school when the lesson books were carefully packed away. During the morning addresses were given by His Worship the Mayor. (Mr W. Marshall) and teachers on the object of thjs great, day in the British Empire. During the afternoon an impromptu concert was held by the pupils, and considering there was not the least preparation some splendid items were given. The programme rendered was as follows:—
