CORRESPONDENCE.
THE NGATEA DEBATING SOCIETY. (To the Editor.) Sir, —I am surprised at the lack of courtesy shown by the above society in the choice of a subject for the debate on the 28th inst. Knowing that the issue lies between Ngatea and Kerepeehi no matter whether speakers from Thames or elsewhere lead the debate the subject “Why should Kerepeehi not be the leading township of the Plains,” is hardly in keeping with the object of a debating society which, I understand, is also a mutual improvement club. Surely a subject such as the one chosen cannot fail tp arouse a certain amount of strife and controversy in the district, and, whilst not making for mutual improvement, is not good form from one township to another. There are many subjects of an educational character open*"fdr debate which should be the aim of a debating and improvement society. HARMONY. . Kerepeehi, May 23, 1923. ■ i:
