DISTRICT NEWS.

TURUA. BAZAAR. A bazaar in aid of the funds of the Turua Presbyterian Church was held in the Victoria Hall, Turua, on Friday last, and proved a great success. The various stalls did a brisk trade, and what little remained, at about 10 o’clock was sold by auction. Various competitions were organised, and were well patronised. The takings just exceeded £lOO by a few shillings. The needlework stall was in the charge of Mrs Stewart and Mrs Stephens; flower stall, Mrs Johnstone; produce stall, Mesdam.es Dally, Zeigler, Baker, Heizeman, and Robertson ; refreshment stall, Mesdames Young and Dale, and Misses Bell and Dale. The winners' of the competitions were : Weight-guessing, cake (8%lb), Mrs Schmidt and Mr Baker; small cake (7141 b seven guessed the correct weight, Mrs Reid being awards ed the prize ; number of beads. (410), *Mrs Elvin, 412 ; shooting competition, for lady’s nightdress, A ! . Elvin, for Miss E. Clotworthy; camisole, Myss KMiller.

STOCK SALE. The general drop in the stock market was reflected at Ngatea sale on Monday last, when the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. held their monthly sale. The prices realised were, however, very fair, compared with those ruling at other yards. Fat steers, small, brought £5 2s, bigger £5 10s ; fat cows from £3 10s to £4 is, extra good quality £5 Its ; fresh conditioned cows from 36s to £2 9s, store cows from 33s upward; steers, 3 to 3%-years, £3 5s to £1 : good quality Jersey heifer calves, £2 Is. smaller 21s ; Holstein heifers, fair quality, £2 ; bulls £1 to £4 ; dairy heifers £4 and £6. Lambs 12s. ACCIDENT. As a result'of falling on the football field at Ngatea on Saturday during a practice match, two men S. Bradley and F. Niccol—sustained broken collar bones. kerepeehi. ACCIDENT. While working on a dredge in the Awaiti on Friday last Mr H. Booth, of Kerepeehi, had the misfoi-tune to get his thumb caught in a chain, with the result that it was badly crushed. FOOTBALL CLUB. There was a very small attendance at a general meeting of the Kerepeehi Football Club held on Monday evening Mr J. Nicholson and Mr ,G. Blythe were appointed delegates to the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union. It was decided to hold a dance i-i the near future, and arrangements were left in the hands of the social committee. There will be no practice on Saturday, as the ground is to be prepared on that day for the sports on Monday. ROAD WORKS. Work on the Kerepeehi-Ngarua road is proceeding steadily. Several reinforced concrete bridges are about to be erected across drains in the Awaiti block, and the tresses are now being made at the Kerepeehi workshops.
