KEREPEEHI. IMPROVING THE PIAKO RIVER. The work of widening the Piako River at Kerepeehi, moving several points, anti digging a slip-way to enable the big punt to be launched will probably be commenced within the next few days, when the Priestman dredge arrives from Awaiti. ERECTION OF DREDGE. A big pontoon that has been constructed at Kerepeehi went down stream on Tuesday on its way to Thames, where Messrs IA. and G. Price will erect, the machinery of a Kingstone dredge. FOOTBALL CLUB. The annual meeting of the Kerepeehi Football Club was held on Monday, there being about 25 members present. Mr Thompson occupied the chair. The balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £ll 6s, was adopted. The following officers were appointed : Patron, Mr J. Kidd; President; Mr J. Nicholson; secretary, Mr R. F, Carr; treasurer,, Mr G. A. Avey; committee, Messrs H. Ward, G. Blythe, C. Bridge, W. Thompson, and T. Alley; social committee, Messrs H. Ward. J. M. Thompson, W. Thompson, C. Nicholson, A. McMillan,, G. Masters, and G. Mclntosh. , The appointment of vice-presidents, selectors, and delegates was left to the committee. It was decided that the committee should look over the football ground, and if necessary arrange a working bee. The to the club were fixed at 3s for members and 7s 6d for vice-presidents. The first practice match will be held on Saturday, March 24. PATETONGA. CONCERT. A concert, which was a pronounced success, was held in the Pat,etonga Hall on Saturady, 10th Inst., in aid of the hall lights. Much credit is due to the Clarken family, who organised jn such a business-like manner,, clearing £l's 5s net profit. The programme consisted of “ I’m foi- ever blowing bubbles, ’, a chorus by the school children ; “ The little Irish girl,” Mr- G. Muir and Miss D. Clarken; “ The Fly Machine,” Mr F. Potter and Miss D. Clarken; “ The Arab’s farewell to his steed,” Mrs . Bowman ; “ The Geisha,” chorus ; “ Mother Machree,” Kir, G. 'Muir ; “ The Sweet Bye and Bye,’ (pianoforte solo), Miss L. Cumberland • “ Let the rest of the world go by.” Mesdames Ji and E'. Wallace ; “ Absence,” V. Garden and >R. Cumberland • “To the Woods,” Mesdames E. and D. Clarken; “Baggy Breeches,” Chorus ; “ Where are you going to, my pretty maid,” Miss D. Clarken and H. Taylor; “Good-night,” chorus of little tots. Mesdames P. McGregor Cumberland, and ■Caldwell played the accompaniments. The dance music after was supplied by Mr Leo. Hunter, Mr Blackburn,, and Miss Caudwell. A light, supper was provided.
