HIKUTAIA MAIN ROAD.
« TT-, At the last Thames County Meeting Cr. Alley suggested that the road from Hikutaia towards Thames be scarified and rolled as soon as possible. The cost would come out of the loan, as it would be part of the permanent scheme. Cr. Cox was against spending loan money on work that might, not' be suitable for the permanent work, and said the cost should come out of rates. Mr Alley moved, and Ci’. Faithful seconded, that one mile of road in Hikutaia be scarified and rolled ds a trial to ascertain the cost. Cr. Faithful suggested getting metal from Puriri Stream! and crushing all metal that would not go through a small screen. Cr. Brunton suggested calling tenders for carting from Puriri and Omahu. Cr. McCoripick moved that the foreman be instructed to have the culvert at the corner by the Mata, toki railway station lengthened by about 20ft. •
