HARVEST FESTIVAL.
SALVATION ARMY. SALE OF PRODUCE. On Monday evening 'the Salvation Army Hall was.packed to,the doors, the occasion being a Harvest Festival service and sale of produce. The various stalls were tastefully decorated, and the many good things were enticingly displayed. The local Corps Commander, Captain Hoare, assisted by Commander Hill, of the Prison Gate Home, Auckland, was in charge of the proceedings. The service opened with prayer, after which the following programme was rendered by the Methodist choir, under the baton of Mr L. Foster : — Anthem, “Praise the Lord,” choir: song, “Almond Blossoms,” Mrs’ G. Foster; anthem, “Ye shall dwell in the Lord” (soloist,, Mr Eaddy), choir ; song, “The Crown of the Year,” Mr L. Foster; recitation, “The Inventor's Wife,” Mrs Hall; anthem. “Seek ye •the Lord” (soloist Mr R. Foster), choir; song, “My Ain Folk,” Mrs W. Marshall ; anthem, “And the Glory,” choir. The. items were much appreciated, and frequently encnored. The produce was capably auctioned by Mr B. Stansfield, who spared no pains to get the fullest value possible for all the goods. At, the close of the proceedings Captain Hoare briefly thanked the choir. Mr Stansfield, and the public generally for their generous, response to the Army’s appeal for help, and for funds, the whole of which is to be devoted to purchasing a horse and trap to enable them to travel round 'this district furthering the. work of the Salvation Army.
