THAMES HARBOUR.

CONSIDERED BY COUNTY. INFORMATION WANTED. ’ • letters regarding the proposed Thames Harbour improvement scheme; came before yesterday’s Ohinemuri County Council meeting. The Thames Harbour Board advised that it purposed taking a poll on the question of raising £60',000 fop harbour improvements, and asked to be supplied with a list of ratepayers m the Ohinemuri County. The Matamata: County Council wrote protesting against the “unjust inclusion” of their county by the Commission, and stating that steps were being taken to combat, the poll. The writers . suggested a conference at Morrinsville on the 7th inst. m order to “consider and decide what steps would be best to take to defeat the poll.” The chairman said the Council should take no action until they had heard what the Harbour Board, delegates had to say. .As much as ■ 10s had been paid on Power Board polls as wharfage at Auckland, and most of that was saved by , shipping to Komi. It might be, therefore, that a harbour would prove beneficial to the Thames Valley. .

On the motion of the chairman', seconded bv Cr. Johnstone, consideration was deferred till the Harbour Board delegates have been heard.
