SYDNEY TO MELBOURNE.
NEW MOTOR RECORD. TIME REDUCED. The motoring record between Sydney and Melbourne has been lowered by Messrs A. V. Turner and C. W. Kirton, who, driving a 23.8 horsepower six-cylinder Delage car, left Sydney at 20> minutes past 5 o’clock in the morning and arrived -at Melbourne at seven minutes past 7 o’clock in the evening. The actual driving time was 13 hours 47 minutes, and the average speed during the journey of 584 miles was 42 miles per hour. The record from Melbourne to Sydney was broken by Mr. Norman Smith, who with his 18.9 Essex entered th 3 distance in 14 hours 28 minutes. ■Messrs Turner and Kirton had an uneventful run through, except that there were three stoppages occasioned by punctures?
