DISTRICT NEWS.
TURUA. TENNPS DANCE. A very successful tennis dance was held at Turua on Thursday evening. There was a very good attendance, including visitors from Thames. The music was supplied by Mr D. Fisher, and Mr J. McConnell was M.C. A tasty supper, supplied by the ladies, was handed round. NETHERTON. CHEESE FACTORY. The suppliers to the Netherton cheese factory, after an informal discussion, on Sunday morning decided not to supply the Paeroa butter factory, as advocated by the N.Z. Cooperative Dairy Co., but to continue cheese-making till the end of the season. NGATEA. VETERINARY CLUB. Little business was done at the monthly meeting of the Farmers’ Veterinary Club held at Ngatea on Satuiday. A, list of members who have not paid their subscription was put >n the hands of Mr D. Waite for collection. The resignation of the secretary and treasurer (Mr H. Dent) was accepted with regret, and Mr Gibson was appointed in his stead. PATETONGA. ’ FIRES. Fires have been raging since Friday last on the peat country between the Piako and the Awaiti rivers, about a couple of miles beyond Patetonga landing.
