CENTRAL THEATRE PICTURES* TONIGHT. SECOND-HAND ROSE. Tlie attraction for to-night is “Second-hand Rose,” the Universal feature presenting Gladys Walton. It is a delightful story, with pathos aild comedy in abundance. You'll love it because it is human. TO-MORROW NIGHT. CHIVALROUS CHARLEY. Eugene O’Brien is to be seen tomorrow night in his latest Selznick comedy drama, “Chivalrous Charley,” whose other name is Reilly. Witn •such a combination as O’Brien and. Reilly it can be assumed that in “Chivalrous Charley” things move. In fact, it is claimed that they never stop from the moment Charley enters the dining car on his way East, after having spent some time at his uncle’s expense in the wilds of the West among “the roughnecks,” until he lands at his' uncle’s New Rochelle home in the lead of a squadron of motor-cycle “cops,” etc., bent on arresting him before having to call ui the assistance of the Allied armies and navies. Also on the programme is Viola Dana in “The Microbe.” ’ MONDAY NIGHT. THE STORM. Can two' men live together alone for 'four months, hemmted in by snows from the outside world, without murdering each other ? Jack London and other writers of the Northland we~e of the opinion that it. couldn't be done, except in rare circumstances. In “Tne Storm,” the Universal-Jewel feature of which House Peters is the star, to be screened on Monday, the same situation is further complicated by. the intrusion of an innocent girl, bound to live with them for the four winter months'. What happens is a clear exposition of two opposing types of male character. Langdon McCormick wrote the play, from which J. G. Hawks adapted the screen story. Reginald Barker directed. Peters, Matt Mcpre, and Virginia Valli are the two men and the girl.

NGATEA AND NETHERTON. THE MIRACLE MAN. A rare treat is in store for picturegoers at Ngatea and Netherton, where “The Miracle Man” will be screened —at Ngatea to-night (Friday) and at Netherton on Monday. This’ masterpiece has thrilled audiences wherever it has been shown, not only because of its absorbing story, but because of its powerful heart appeal. The story deals with a gang of, crooks operating in New York’s Chinatown, who learfi of an old patriarch living out in the country and possessing the power to cure the sick and make the crippled whole. With the idea of making money out of his operations Tom Burke and his pals, go to the deaf and blind healer. Then commences a transformation in these crooks that makes one of the most fascinating stories of all time. “The Miracle Man” is based on the story by Frank L. Packard and the play by George M. Cohan, and is the first of the Paramount Artcraft Royalty masterpieces. The leading roles are in the seemingly inspired hands' cf Thomas Meiglian, Betty Compson. Joseph J. Dowling, Lon Chaney, an< J. M. Dumont.
