MINING.
RISING SUN. The mine manager reports for 'the week ending February 17 : During the week the suction hose was fixed up and .the air compressor started .and raised the pressure to 801 b. Thi water supply pipes for 300 or 400’ feet are in working order. On the 9th pumping operations were started, and in a few days the water was lowered to a depth of 30 feet from the collar of the shaft. A portion of the suction hose and pipe gave way and went down the shaft. Repairs were made and everything is working satisfactorily. No. 7 pump has been put into good order (also pipe fittings) and is l ready to place. This will be worked as a separate unit. The manager adds : No doubt the extra water was caused by the heavy rains, ami also as no draining has been going on for the past year or so, with the result that the water has backed up to the collar pf the shaft.
