WAIHI BEACH ROAD.

PROPOSED TOLL-GATE. BOROUGH COUNCIL’S ATTITUDE. At the recent Waihi Borough Council meeting a letter was r.ead from the Ohinemuri County Council asking for the council’s decision in the matter pf-setting up a toll-gate; and in reply to the Waihi Council’s application for a grant of £lOO for expenditure on the plains portion of the road, which is in Ohinemuri county area, and used by settlers paying rates to the county. The council resolved that it was not sympathetic to the proposal to institute a toll-gate. Opinion expressed suggested that the adoption of a toll-gate would act detrimentally, to the interests' of Waihi Beach as a popular health resort and camping ground.
