THE HALL-

At a meeting of the Hall Society executive, held last evening. Messrs Wilson, Hutchinson, and Chatfield were appointed a deputation to dis•cuss matters with the owner of the hall. Opinions were expressed that it was not likely that the hall could now be obtained on the same terms as' previously, and that in view of- the attitude taken at the public meeting the owner of the hall was Quite right in doing as he now proposed to do. It would be useless for the society to go any further ahead with their -scheme unless they had much greater -suppoTfrOm the people than at present, (f the hall proprietor does as he proposes. it will be almost as good as' if a new hall was built. Mr Jones suggested that a building .containing a club room, a committee room, a library, and perhaps a billiard room and offices, could be erected on the hall site. At some future -date, when the district warranted it, the building could be extended to include a public hall. The matter may be discussed later at a public meet.ing.
