THAMES HARBOUR BOARD

o GENERAL MEETING. The Thames Harbour Board met on Tuesday. Present: Messrs C. W. Harris (chairman), A. Bruce,, H. OCooper, E. N. Miller, W. Danby, R. Coulter, S. Laughlin, D. Donaldson, and S. A. Hetherington. 1 MR. BRUCE REAPPOINTED. The Marine Depatrment, advised that Mr A. Bruce had been reappointed a member of the Board. HARBOUR LIGHTS. The Thames Valley Electric Power, Board quoted prices for installing lights on the Kopu and Turua wharves. The chairman said lie had instructed the secretary to accept the tender. The installation of these lights would save the Board money. TURUA WHARF. The Board’s solicitors advised that the Board had the right to borrow to reimburse itself for the expenditure in connection with the construction and maintenance of the Turua wharf. The chairman said it was questionable if the Board required the money at the present time. M' Donaldson suggested that it be advisable to take preliminary steps to float the debentures and put the money into the general account, so that it. would be handy when required. The chairman said it was a nice position to have a credit balance in the bank and £6OOO worth of debentures in the safe. .No action was taken. Mr E. F. Adams reported on damage recently done to the wharf, and on the general condition of that, structure and the pontoon. He considered that the damage had been done by unusually heavy landing over the wharf. The chairman said that metal should be landed on the bank. The wharf was not intended for that. The clerk (Mr Gibbs) said the landing of shingle on the wharf was not allowed, and there was only one occasior on which it had been done. The chairman said .the repairs recommended in the report had been carried out. COMING ELECTION. The secretary was appointed returning officer for the election of members on April 26.
