WILSON’S ROAD.
| MATTER BEFORE COUNCIL l j COMPLETION URGED. i The secretary of the Nethcrton 1 Ratepayers’ Association wrote to the Hauraki Plains County Council conveying the following resolution, whic.i was unanimously carried at their last ' meeting: “That this meeting of the Netlicrton Ratepayers’ Association urge the County Council to take steps to procure by petition the necessary additional amount of money to have Wilson’s Road completed.” Or. Hayward thought settlers would be foolish to raise a loan for metal. They should get some permanent scheme for the main roads, as metal alone had proved not sufficient. Cr Hare explained the position as disclosed at the meeting. The money granted was not sufficient to complete the job, and the engineer thought it would not be feasible to start the work unless it could be completed. After much discussion Cr. Hayward moved that the riding members, with the engineer, meet the ratepayers and explain that the Council thought the settlers would be better advised to go in for tar-sealed roads. Seconded by Cr. McLoughlin. It was pointed out that money could not be raised by petition in that area, as the law provided that that method could only be adopted where there were less than 100 ratepayers. The' Public Works Department wrote agreeing to authorise the expenditure of the full amount of £l5OO on Wilson’s Road, the Council to submit proposals to the District Engineer in the usual way. It was decided that tire clerk write and thank the Minister.
