TENNIS.

MEETING AT NGATEA. A meeting of delegates n: .the Haurnjti Plains Tennis Association was held at Ngatea yesterday. Present : Messrs McMillan (Tutiua), Stretton (Waitakaruru), Devereaux (Kerepeehi), O’Carroll (Kopuarahi), and the ■secretary, Mr A. Vowles (Hopai). In the absence of the president Mr D. G. McMillan was voted to the chair. Tiic Kopu Club wrote asking for affiliation, and this was granted on the motion of Mr Devereaux, seconded by Mi Stretton. Motions extending the district boundary to include Kopu and admitting the Kopu club to the Laidlaw Cup competitions were carried. The Kopu club will meet the bye in the second round. It was decided that, in the event of wet weather interfering with the first round that it be played on the date fixed for the second round. It was resolved that the position of hop. secretary and hon. treasurer to the association be a dual one. On the motion of Mr Stretton, seconded bv Mr O’Carroll it was decided that the rules as suggested by the sub committee be adopted. After much discussion it was decided, on the motion of Mr Devereaux, seconded by Mr Stretton, “That B grade players be allowed to play once only in an A grade team without disqualification.” It was decided t'hat any club wishing to regrade A grade players into B teams could do s'o only with the consent of the committee. in the forthcoming competitions all games will be “nine up” except ladies' singles and ladies’ doubles, which will be “seven up.” B GRADE DRAW. Kopuarahi plays Kerepeehi, al Kerepeehi ; Waitakaruru plays Hopai, at Kopuarahi ; Kaihere plays Ngatea, at Ngatea ; Turua a bye. The B grade matches will be placed on the same dates as the cup matches, and under exactly the same conditions.
