The collective opinion of the various branches of the Dairy Faimeis Union on a number of matters important. to dairymen is desired by the executive to enable them to prepale an agenda for the proposed general conference, which will take place probably in Palmerston North towards the end of the present season. A meeting of the Ngatea branch -J the Union will be held in the hall tomorrow. Among the items on the agenca are :— ; Organisation. —The method of .01ganising—the national policy and the establishment of a united association for farmers jn New Zealand. Dairy Control.—Whether by legislation or by mutual consent of a committee consisting of producers, bankers, merchants,, and shippers. The Moratorium Act, which expires in 1924. Sale and Distribution of Manures.Cost of. raw materials and manufacture, shipping freights, and handling costs. Purity of Farm Seeds.—Germination and warranty. Elimination of cull cows and buns. Universal Testing.—A national ' scheme ; whether by legislation, thus making it compulsory, or by voluntary effort. Bacon Industry.-Whether to be •controlled by the Meat Board, or by a joint board of bacon curers, or dairy farmers. VETERINARY CLUB. At a meeting of the Farmers’ Veteiinary Club, held at Ngatea on Saturday the need of greater membership was discussed, and it was suggested that, as the Hauraki Plains Veterinary Club was now practically defunct, members should be invited .o join the Farmers’ Club. One strong club would be better than two weak ones. . It was' decided, on the motion of M> Wallis, seconded by Mr Rountree, that a letter should be written to the secretary of the Hauraki Plains Veterinary Club, inviting them to send delegates to a meeting of the Farmers’ Club to hear proposals regarding the \ amalgamation of the two bodies. It was decided that the next lec- . ture in Ngatea should be held on February 21. at 8 p.m. An invitation to be present is' to be extended to all intending members, and to members of the Hauraki Plains Club. The subject for the lecture will be decided shortly, and advertised in the “Gazette.”
