rangiriri sheep fair. The Farmers’ ■ Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd., reports : — We held cur annual sheep fair at Rangiriri on Wednesday, January 31, yarding about 3000 sheep. The demand throughout was excellent, and values were even firmer than at recent. sales. The ewes penned were not of high quality, but notwithstanding this competition was very spirited. Small 2-tooths made to 285,/, a line of 2, 4', and 6 tooth (medium framed) sold at the same figure; 4 and 5-year ewes from 28s to 30s; aged ewes 18s 9d to 19s 6d : culls 13? to 16s 3d. Wethers piroved quite as popular, although only ax few pens were yarded. These realised up to 28s for forward sorts. Fat ewes 30s. Lambs were again in brisk demand, very forward woollys making 24 s 6d, medium woollys to 20s 6d; good shorn to 19s 3d, medium 15s ; culls 7s 3d to Ils. A few 2-shear Shropshire rams made from 2gns to 4gnsAged Romneys 15s to £1 6s 3d. CLAUDELANDSSTOCK SALE. At Claudelands on Thursday we. had a larger entry than usual of sheep. Competition was spirited, and good values'ruled. Heavy fat wethers sold from 29s 6d to 32s 9d; fat 2--. tooth wethers 295; prime ewes 26s to 31s 6d, for a pen of extra heavy; lighter fat ewes to 24s 6d; fat 2-tooth ewes 27s 3d ; .heavy fat lambs 24's 61 to 335, lighter 21s-to 245. The advertised line of store lambs (.in the wool) were bright, healthy sheep, but a trifle on the small side, the first cut 1 making 17s 6d and the balance 14s Bd. The cattle pens were well filled, all classes selling readily. Fat steers (medium weights) made from £8 to £8 6s, lighter £5 to £5 15s; heavy prime cows £6 to £6 10s, medium to heavy £4 10s to £5 10s, lighter killable cows £4 2s 6d to £5 3s ; vealers £2 5s ; well done 2 year steers £4 Is to £4 15s ; 15-month “Heifers £2 7s 6d . to £2 15s; heifer calves 33s to 38s', j steer calves 36s to £2 Is, weedy £IJ <. bulls 15s to £2 15s.
