CRICKET
PAEROA CLUB. A general meeting of the Paeroa Cricket Club was held on Monday evening, there being a satisfactory attendance of members. Mr J. Walmsley was elected chairman. ELECTION OF PRESIDENT. The chairman said it. was a great pity that the club had l#st its president, the late Mr Fielder, who was largely instrumental in reforming the club. Out of respect to the deceased gentleman those present .stood in silence for one minute. On the motion of Mr C. Halliday, seconded by Mr Brown, Mr Waimslev was elected president. Mr Walmsley acknowledged the honour paid him, and assured the members that he would do his utmost to further the interests of the club. CAPTAIN ELECTED. Mr P. C. Furley, who is leaving the district, forwarded his resignation as captain of the club. , The resignation was' accatped with regret, and Mr H. M. Shand was electto the position.
GENERAL. The captain and secretary were authorised to operate on the banking account. Messrs W. Smith and C. Holton were elected to the committee.'
