A Zurich curiosity dealer during a recent visit to Turbin purchased a gold serpent ring which- was guaranteed as belonging to the Borgia period. A warning that there might be dangerous secrets connected with the ring was unheeded by the purchaser. When he returned to Zurich he proudly wore the ring to show to his wife the bargain he had secured. This nearly cost him his life. His ring finger and his hand swelled to an enormous size, and ultimately his whole ann became affected. A- medical man who examined the ring found a. small opening under the serpent’s head through which a tiny , needel punctured the skin of the wearer and injected poison. I
