BOWLING.

CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT. The local bowling greens were fully engaged on Christmas Day, when a pairs tournament was held which provoked much enthusiasm and interest. The day was ideal for bowling, and the greens were keen. Some close games resulted in Mesas' C. Cane and Peacock being declared the winners by a narrow margin, Messrs de Castro and Pivott being runnersup. * Yesterday a progressive pairs tournament was played, but owing to the •number of competitors 1 the tournament was not completed yesterday, and will be continued this afternoon.

“DON’TS.” For New Players (and often far Old Players). A member has kindly forwarded the following “Dpn’ts,” with the idea that they may be of some benefit: 1. Don’t think you have learned all the points of the game after .the first two or three Saturdays’. You may be disappointed when the selection committee leaves you out of the tournament rink. ■ ■ 2. Don’t play the shot you yant. to. The skip knows a little more about the game than you do, although you may not think so. 3. Don’t drive whenever you get a chance. It won’t often occur. 4. Don’t tell your skip what shot te play unless he asks you. If he' doesn’t know./What to do, the selection committee will soon find ‘someone - who does. 5. Don't cuddle kitty. Stand back and let the skip have a clear field 6. Don’t talk when the skip is playing. He wants his bowl to talk—not you. 7. Don’t blame the skip if he happens to be short. You have been known to do, it yourself. 8. Don’t imagine yourself a Max Walker or a Nipper Jury if you happen to beat a good player. These things’have a way Of happening at times. 9. Don’t put the wrong bias on your sub. It's annoying to the treasurer.
