The heavy rain on Monday will considerably retard the hay-making, which was in full swing on the Hauraki Plains, but apart from that it was welcome to ‘the farming community. With a little fine weather the hay crops should soon be sufficiently dry to enable haymaking to be recommenced in a week or two.
