DANCE RECITAL.

= A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. December 14’, the residents of Te Aroha were treated io one of the most brilliant entertainments ever held in the local theatre, the occasion marking the close of the season so far as the dancing classes presided over by Mi.ss Clare Smales are concerned. The stage was prettily defcorated with nikau and bamboo, while red rambler roses interspersed with the greenery made a pretty background which threw Zito relief the revels of the dancers. The performers, bne and all, showed in a very marked degree that neither time nor trouble had been spared in preparing the pupils for this production, which was a decided success in every way, and the residents of Te ArOha are fortunate in having the services of this talented young dancer, who, besides being an artist herself, has that rare gift of being aSSIe to impart her knowledge to others. Miss Peggy Ray, Miss Myra Ross, and Mr H. W. Smales supplied musical items during the evening, all being encored lustily, but the singing of Miss Myra Ross quite took the house by storm, and everyone is looking forward to hearing her again in the near future. The gorgeous dresses and brilliant lighting effects contributed largely to the success of the evening, and one and all were unanimous in the opinion that the children had made wonderful progress during the short period that they had been receiving tuition. Paeroa was well represented, not only in the audience but also upon the stage, and many laudatory remarks were passed anent the finished performance of the Misses Raye de Castro, Doris Rowe, and little Joy : Taiboys.
