NGATEA. PROFICIENCY EXAMINATIONS. Seven Ngatea Standard VI pupils sat for proficiency certificates at Turua on Wednesday, the examiner being Mr C. R. Munro. Three of the pupils gained proficiency, and two competency certificates. A NEW BUSINESS. One of the greatest signs of the progress of Ngatea is the increasing number ofi new buildings being erected. Builders have been busy in 'Ngatea lately, no less than three new ■structures going up at the same time. A new store is now completed, and was opened for business to-day. The building is a combined residence and store, and is' attractive in appearance. The shop is a, compact one, and the goods are very neatly displayed. The business is being conducted by Mr H. and Miss A. Dent, who.have an advertisement in this issue. Now that the township of Ngatea is growing there is one thing noticeable. The business section will undoubtedly, for some time, at .any rate, be in two sections —the older portion near the bridge and the most recent additions .towards the saleyards. The two sections are not. far apart, however, and before long the property on both sides of the road from the bakery to the bridge will no doubt be built upon. With the rapid growth of the township a town planning scheme could be utilised '.with great benefit to the future of Ngatea.
