HAURAKI PLAINS COUNTY.
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. BYLAWS CONSIDERED. A special meeting of tihe Hauraki Plata® County Council was held in the County office on Monday, the following being present: Mr J. C. Miller (chairman), Crs. C. W. Harris, C. W. Parfitt, W. G. Hayward, T. McLoughlin, J. F. Mayn, A. Chatfield, and H. Hare. There was passed by special I’esolutipn a special order authorising the sum of; £9OO to be spent on the construction of a worker's cottage in the Patetonga riding. The proposed by-laws were gone through, and the Council passed .a special order making same, and will come up for confirmation at a subsequent meeting. The are a comprehensive set similar to those adopted by the United Counties pf Taranaki. FRESH WATER SCHEME. Mr J. B. Holmes, of Messrs Holmes and Sons, civil engineers, Welling ton, attended the meeting, and discussed with the Council the suggested fresh water supply scheme for the Hauraki Plains. It was decided that, owing to the expense, the Council would not yer obtain an elaborate report. When the question was discussed at a later date, the discussion witllii Mr Holmes would not be lost sight of. It was emphasised that before the Council could ask the ratepayers to consider the matter, the Council would have to get an extensive report and at present the Council had not the funds available to go to that expense.
