PROPOSAL TO REMOVE DREDGES.
COUNTY COUNCIL PROTESTS. It was alleged at Monday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council that the Lands Department proposed moving dredges from their present positions to the upper reaches of the river. On Cr. McLoughlin’s motion it was decided to urge the Minister for Lands to. concentrate on lowering the water on the.Piako River and Wai-takaruru-Maukoro canal and to protest against the use of dredges in the upper Waitoa before provision was made for lowering the water in the Pialtfo River.
