POWER BOARD WORKS.
The fpMowing reports were submitted to the Thames Valley Electric power Bdard meeting at Te Aroha. on Thursday afternoon: MANAGER’S REPORT. Poles.—The “Lindstol” arrived at Thames with poles on Wednesday, 2nd inst:, and I fully expected the unloading to be in operation, but owing to having a large cargo it wilUi.be Thursday or Friday before discharging commences. She is not yet alongside at Kopu. Transformers.—The tenders of Tolley and Co., amounting to £2587 9s, and John Burns and Co., amounting to £239 7s Id, for supply ofj transformers, were accepted during the month. Supply.—The Waikino supply was interrupted /during the month owing to the tripling Of the oil switch at Waikino. The cause was located at Whareppa and the defect remedied, I would suggest that the Board consider placing telephones at intervals adjacent tp main line in order tha. consumers can immediately get. in touch with the depots at any time when a breakdown occurs'. Quite a number, of the runaCi post offices close at 5 p.m. and do not open until 9 ajn. If it were possible ti> arrange for something of this nature it would tighten up the service considerably. The is now a man permanently .stationed at Tirau, who will control Putaruru, Pairere, and adjoining, dis' l tricts. i On the 17th, in company with the chairman, the Hauraki Plains district was inspected. It will be necessary for the Board to consider a permanent man .at Ngatea ct a ven early, date, also the matter of accommodation tor liim. * Inspection of Lines and Breakdowns. —Owing to the load now getting on the lines it will be necessary to have same patrolled twice a weekI would suggest motor cycles be obtained for Paeroa, Mbrrinsville, and ‘ Tirau for this purpose. Ngatea Supply.—Difficulty is being experienced in giving the supply to . the Ngatea factory on account of the Marine Department insisting upon het wires on the Ngatea bridge being in-,, creased a further 20ift. A temporary arrangement ~is now being made, pending jsame being connected with submarine cable. The quantities of poles to be discharged by the “ Lindstol ” are mostly ’ 30-fts., which were urgently heeded. This wilt allow Okoroire, Walton, Manuwaru, and Mangetaparu sections to be gone pn with. ENGINEERS’ REPORT.
Thames Section.—The wiring of the main double circuit 11,W00 volt line towards’ Thames has reached Matatoki; the high tension telephone circuit is 'being erected at the same time.
Hauraki Pia.ins Section.—The poking of Huirau Road and River Road from Carters corner has been completed. The 11 000 yolt wiring along Pekapeka Road has been completed. The lowj-.tension wiring has been completed from Pekapeka Road to Wharepoa junction, to and including. Kerepeehi township on the 11.000-Volt poles; Four hundred-volt pole lines have been wired down River Road from Carter’s corner, and a separate 400-volt pole line' has been erected and wired from Wharepoa junction towards the ferry. The men in this area, except the main wiring gang, have now been concentrated 'on running consumers’ services, and h number of farmers are already being supplied. Transformer stations have been erected at Wharepoa corner, on the WharepoaKerepeeM road, and at Kerepeehi. Tatuanui—The reticulation in.this vicinity has been completed, Whakahongi Road having been made alive on October 14. ( Chudley Road.—This section has been completed during the month’, and the second stretch of lopMtension line was made alive on October 23.
Stanley Road.—A mile of low-ten-I sion wiring has been completed on the main line between HerriesviUe and Te Ar'oha West. Mangakawa join up this road iwth the 33000-volt system: 1% miles of SSOO'-volt circuit have been wired on Mikelseh’s Road. A mile stretch of low-tension line west of the transformer platform on Mangakawa Road was made alive on October 18. The 3300 volt circuit has been completed to Kiley’s corner,. Te Arolia West and a further mile of low tension reticulation should be inade alive almost immediately. Tc Aroha-Gordon.—The wiring of the main 11,000'yotlt line has been completed to and a branch 11,000-volt line run to the - Gordon quarry. It is hoped to have power on in the course of a few days. The section from Te Atpha West to Manawaru was made aliVe on October 31. A considerable amount of kw tension reticulation has been done apd consumers’ services connected. Morrinsville-Tahuna.—The 35 feet poles' for the main litre have been distributed’ as far as Tauhei Road corner.
WrJtoa Section.—The poling 'off this main 11.000 volt line has been completed. Maungat'autari'Section.—The wiring -on' McViear’s section Bias been completed, and alsp Watson’s section. Service lines are in course of com struction, and several have heen completed, and poles for farmers’ liners are being carted from Cambridge. Te Poi Section.—Transformer Stations have been erected at the corner of' Taiheii and Te Poi roads, and the low tension line on Taiheu Road East is finished-. Power, is now bn this section. Tirau-Putaruru Section. —A supply is how being given from the Tanmangi transformer to the eastward and westward extensions, and all consumers have been connected. A transformer structure has been erected.at Carl’s, between Tauriiangi and Putarurii, and service lines finished. Tirau-—A low tension Hne has been run from the main transformer to supply the County Council woikshop.
Service Lines.—Every endeavour is now being made to complete service lines as rapid y as possible, so that farmers may be connected up apd be ready- for supply as soon as power is available. With this end in view a number of men have been transferred from the main wiring and ppling gangs, and are engaged in the erection of these service lines. Genera'!. —As requested at the last Board meeting Mr Gauvain interview-, ed the Commissioner of Lands with regard to the erection of poles, on the Education Reserve oh Awaiti Road. A satisfactory agreement was concluded, and particulars of same are before you this day.
