PAEROA TENNIS CLUB.

PRIVATE COURTS ADVOCATED.

A special meeting of the above club was held pn Wednesday night in tne Borough Council Chambers, Mr Miller, president, occupying the chair.

There was an attendance of some 20 mejnbers, and the notice of motion before the meeting was as fellows: “That a special meeting of members be held to discuss the practicability of raising money to advance to the Domain. Board for. the purpose of putting down new courts.” Mr Thorp, in speaking on his motion, said that since he proposed his notice of motion he had found thathe majority of members were against the proposal of lending money to the Domain Board. Mr O’Neill moved that a sub-com-mittee be appointed tp investigate the position of obtaining a piece of land for the purpose of forming private courts and to consider the forming of such courts ; the report of the committee to be presented at a further special meeting to be held on Wednesday, November 15. This was seconded by Mr Thorp and parried. The following were appointed to act on the committee : Messrs O’Neill, Thorp, Towers, Wells, and Penlingtbn. 1

The matter of the deputation waiting on the Borough Council was deferred until after the next special meeting.
