KEREPEEHI. HOSPITAL FUNDS. At .a meeting of the ball committee, which successfully run a masquerade fancy dress' ball recently, it was announced that the door takings and the value of tickets sold amounted tp £34, with more money still to come in for tickets. It’ was expected that the sum to be handed tp the committee/ which is collecting for funds for the purchase of a hospital site, would approximate £3O. It was decided that social functions be held each month, and a strong committee was elected to carry out all arrangements. THE HALL. At a recent meeting of Kerepeeh.i settlers it was announced that local estimates' had been received for alternate proposals of erecting a new hall on a public site now purchased’ or the removal pf .the present privately Owned hall from: its present position to the . new site. It was decided to obtain estimates frpm outside contractors also for the work. The name of Mr J. D. Jones was added tp the committee which has this matter, ip hand. TURUA. TENNIS OPENING. The weather .was by no means favourable for the opening pf the tennis season at Turua on Saturday, with the consequence that the number of representatives from, kindred clubs was few. However, the programme as arranged Was gone on with and a very pleasant afternoon spent. WAITAKARURU. THE MAILS. A new route has been found fer the mail frpm Thames to the Post Office at Waitakaruru. and the mail is now being sent via Turua by the Turuar Pokeno service car. NGATEA. BANK DAYS. % An apparent recognition of .the progress of Ngatea is that the Bank of New Zealand now announces that the branch at Ngatea will be open weekly.’

HOPAL tennis; club. The annual meeting of the Hopai Tennis Club was held last Thursday, when the following officers were elected : President, Mr L. M. Murray ; vice-president, Mr A. R Vowles ; hon. secretary, , Mr B. Andrews ; hpn. treasurer, Mr D. Waite; match committee, Messrs Murray, Vowles, Andrews and -W. Murphy ; delegate to proposed Haupaki Plains Tennis Association. Mr A. R, Vowles; general committee, Messrs Murray, Vowles, Andrews- S. Coppins, and E. Buckley. The opening day was fixed for November 4, and it was decided to procure the necessary materials to topdress the court before the opening day.
