KAIHERE. PURE-BRED STOCK. Moving along with the times, improvements are being , made to the local herds in the form of pure-bred cattle. One of ,the mbst recent additions has been made by Messrs Hewitt and Brown, whp have purchased Beaumont's Marvel, a pedigree Jersey bull, from Mr J. P. Jensen, of TahupaBeaumont’s’Marvel’has Eminent Fontain and : K.C.B. as its grandparents. Additions to pure-bred rtock have also been made recently by Mr A. H. McDonald. PAIETONGA. MAUKORO BUSH. On the Maukoro Estate there is a fine white pine bush-, and while passing through the estate last week a prominent settler was heard to express an opinion that the bush would make a good forest reserve for the Forestry Department. It was contended that it would be a good acquisition for the Department. If the suggestion is thought to be a feasible one a movement by the local ratepayers’ association would help greatly. PIPIROA. SCHOOL TEACHER. The Pipiroa School Committee is to be consulted regarding the appointment of Mrs H. Goldthorpe to the staff of the local school. IURUA. OBITUARY. The death is announced of Miss Mabe] Torr, .who expired while in a bath in Auckland last. week. Relatives of the deceased reside at Tunua. NEW HALL. The proposal to erect a new hall at Turua is now engaging the attention of the local Building Company. It is undei stood that shops will be included in the new building, and it is anticipated that a good financial proposition will soon be put before t|he public. Considering that .the necessity for a new hall has long been felt there is no reason to doubt that the project will receive .good support. It will be an acquisition to the township and a gobd investment. KOPU FERRY. An additional daily trip is now being made by the Kopu ferry, which' leaves Kopu at 3.30 p.m., returning from Orohgo at 4 p.m.
