PERSONAL.

Mr H. Leaning, late of the Waharoa factory, has been .appointed grader at the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company’s Paeroa factory, and takes up his duties tp-day.

The death took place at Haina Private Hospital, Frankton, an September. 11, of Henry James, the eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Bentley, of Morrinsville, at the age af 16 years. The deceased lad lived in Paeroa with his parents prior to going to Morrinsville, and much sympathy is felt for his bereaved relatives.

It is wit,h regret we chronicle the death of Mr Henry Gilbert Durbin, which took place on Friday last, .it the . early age of 30 years. He was taken ill on Tuesday last and went to the Thames Hospital on Wednesday, where he died. The deceased a few years back took up a farm on the Paeroa-Te Aroha Road, and was an industrious and hard working man, and was looked upon as being one of the quietest workers and best neighbours in the district. He leaves a widow and family of four young children to mourn his loss. Mrs Durbin, in adidtion to losing her husband, has quite recently lost her father and sister. The funeral took place at. Omahu Cemetery yesterdav afternoon, the Rev. F. B. Dobson officiating at the graveside.

On Saturday last the staff of the local branch of. the Farmers?’ Union Trading Co. gathered together to say farewell to Mr G. E. Allen, who has resigned his position as accountant to that firm. Mr Allen has been some 14 years in Paeroa, first with HagueSmith, Ltd., and for the past three years with the Farmers’ Union Trading Co. Mr D. Brown, the local manager, presented to -Mr Altep a sllvepmounted umbrella on behalf of the staff, and in doing so said it was with sincere regret that they were losing Mr Allen’s services. He had proved himself a capable, obliging, and zealous officer, and he wished Mr Allen, his wife, and family every success and prosperity In their new sphere. It is understood that Mr Alien anticipates returning to South Africa, where he was for many years before coming to New Zealand.
