SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
KEIIEL’EEHI ORGANISATION. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Keropcehi Sports Association was held in the Kerepeehi HaU on Tuesday evening, Mr A. Chatfield, presiding over a good atendance of members. Messrs Twist, Bagnall, and Wilson were deputed to investigate outstanding accounts and were given authority to pay same if found correct. The balance .sheet showed receipts totalling £2lO 12s Id, which included £43 Is for vice-presidents’ subscriptions, £6 5s for members' tickets, £4l 13s 6d for race entries, £7 for programme advertisements, £6O 18s for gate 'money. The expenditure, totalling £l4l. 10s lid, included £B4 10 s for prize money. The credit balance was £69 Is 2d.
1 .EGALITY OF HORSE EVENTS. Mr L. Bagnall understood that the police intended to rule all horse events out of the programme, and the mooting should discuss whether they would hold a sports meeting during the coming summer.
The chairman said they should 11011 a sports gathering and substitute other events if the horse events were ruled out.
Mr J. Twist said the idea of holding the annual meeting so early was to draw up the programme and have it approved. They would then have plenty of time to adjust thp programme.
Mr Hoff said that if a horse race was broken it would be legal. Mr J. M.’ Devereaux said it would be illegal. Mr Bagnall said that if two horses started it was a race, and would be illegal. The chairman said the Racing Conference had ruled that the races in the last meeting were not proper horse races.
Mr Bagnall said the ruling of the Racing Conference was not the ruling of the Chief Justice.
Mr Devereaux said that the programme submitted to the police had not been carried out.
Mr Bagnall said tire programme submitted to the Internal Affairs Department had been carried out. Mr Avey said that the meeting should elect the officers, as the sports meeting would be hold regardless of whether horse events were included. The discussion on this matter then concluded. ELECTION OF OFFICERS-
The following officers were elected : President,. Mr A. Chatfield (re-elect-cd) ; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Jenkins. Last year’s vice-presidents were re elected, the committee being given power to add to their number. General committee : Messrs Bagnall, Wilson, Thompson, Chatfield Jenkins, H. Booth, Freckliiigton, Hoff, Davies. Dent, Lawler, Bridge, Devereaux, Avey, Masters, Barnbrook. Programme committee : Messrs Chatfield, Jenkins, Thompson, Avey, Fisher, Executive committee: Messrs Nichol-, son, Wilson, Fisher, Thompson, Avey, Freckliiigton, Davies, the president, and secretary. Auditors: Messrs L. A. AV. Bagnall and J. A. G. Wilson.
Mr Twist declined re-elected as secretary, as after Christmas he would be absent for twelve 'months. It was decided to pay an honorarium of £5 •5s to the retiring secretary in appreciation of his services.
