HAMILTON STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company reports as follows: [ At Hamilton on Tuesday, August 29, we bad a small yarding of sheep, but heavy supplies of cattle and pigs. Fat. steers were plentiful and sold somewhat under last week’s values. The best made from £6 10s to £7 ss, lighter weights £5 5s to £6 ss. Fat cows, which were in smaller numbers than usual, were also easier, heavy sorts making from £4 10s to £5 12s 6d. Store cows were in fair demand, tih«e best realising from 35s to £2 ss. Grown steers (stores) were

also yarded in fair numbers, but were for the geater part passed in. Some business was. transacted later. The best made from £3 15s to £4 2s 6d. No young steers were penned. Yearling Shorthorn heifers drew flair competition, making from £2 15s to £3 3s, smaller from £2. Sheep were again in small supply and sold under good competition. Best wethers made from 29s to 32s 3d, others from 22s ; a pen of well-finished hoggets 27s ; forward hoggets 17s 9d. Best, dairy cows and j heifers, at profit, brought from £8 10s ' to £ll, good sprits £6 to £B, backward and inferior £2 to £5. Pigs to the 1 number of 340 were penned, compris-

ing 120 fat pigs, the balance stores and weaners. Medium to heavy baconers sold well up to late rates at the beginning, but eased slightly towards the end oft the sale. Well finished. porkers were keenly sought after, and maintained their value throughout. Stores and weaners were in excess of the demand ; consequently prices declined considerably. Medium to heavy baconers £2 5s to £3 7s; good porkers to light baconers £2 5s to £2 15s; small to medium porkers 34s to £2 2s, unfinished. 25s to 325; slips 17s to 245, small and inferior 10s .to 15s; weaners Ils to 18s, others 6s 6d to 9s. 1 1
