DISTRICT NEWS.

TURUA. SUGGESTED SOCIAL CLUB. Rather a valuable, suggestion was made by Mr P. R. Henry at the smoke concert held on Wednesday evening to celebrate the opening of the Turua Buildings. Mr Henry suggested forming a social club to occupy tihe .board room of the new offices during a few 'hours of the day. It would be very beneficial to the district. The room offered facilities to such a project. Mr J. A, Bennett, speaking later on in the evening, considered the idea an excellent one, and should be supported by all present. A DANCE. There was a large attendance at tihe final long night of the Sports Club’s dancing classes, which have been successfully organised during the past winter by Mr J. Schmidt. An enjoyable evening was spent, a dainty supper and a nice floor adding to the night's enjoyment. Mrs Goodsell supplied tihe music, which was supplemented with extras by Misses R. Schmidt and M. Ansford. Mr J. Schmidt officiated as M.C. ROAD IMPROVEMENTS. Considerable improvement has been shown in the roads surrounding Turua, Besides the Piako Road being greatly improved with a supply of broken metal, the worst holes have been filled up on the Hauraki Road. In the town board area there has also been considerable improvement. NGATEA. FACTORY SUPPLY. The Ngatea factory has greatly extended its area, from which it draws its supply. Since last season the Miranda cream has helped to swell the supply to Ngatea, via Waitakaruru. Just recently the Maramarua cream was diverted from, the Tuakau factory to Ngatea. MOTOR SERVICES. It is said that a Thames motor proprietor is contemplating commencing a motor service from Ngatea to Thames, via the Kopu ferry, which recently commenced a successful Sunning.
