ENTERTAINMENTS.
CENTRAL THEATRE PICTURES to-night. “TEN THOUSAND MILES WITH THE S.Y. SOUTHERN CROSS.” The fHm to be presented to-night is unusual and interesting in the extreme. A trip to the Pacific Islands by the ordinary steam route is considered, even nowaways, an uncommon one, but to go right up through the unknown and unfrequented Islands of the Solomons is a treat which very_jfew may expect to see. Mr George Tarr may be accounted one of the fortunate, for in addition to having visited these wonderful place; he has been able to film some weiiid and unique sights, which will be reproduced during his visit, here. Mr Tarr accompanies his film with a running lecture describing the habits and customs of the people, and adding interest to the entertainment. “THE TAVERN KNIGHT.” Tn addition to the “10,000 Miles in the Southern Cross” will be screened “The Tavern Knight,” adapted from Rafael Sabatini’s famous nover of that name. It is a Stoll photoplay of quite exceptional, merit, and a very delightful addition to the famous Eminent British Authors’ Series. It provides a charming historical romance of the time of Cromwell and the Roya’ist wars, and the Battle of Worcester is faithfully re-fought on the film screen in the original setting of the actual conflict. These battle scenes alone would make the picture worth seeing quite apart from the absorbing story which is unfolded; and the more peaceful scenes enacted in the beautiful grounds of the “Castle Marleigh” of the novel form an outstanding example of .what can be done in a pictorial way with the stately homes of England. That wellknown actor, Eille Norwood, gives a very fine rendering of the hard-drink-t ing, hard-fighting Tavern Knight, while Madge Stuart is at her best as the heroine, Cynthia—the only feminine character in the story.
