TURUA ROADING SCHEME
TAR MACADAM SURFACES. DEPUTATION TO COUNCIL. In order to further thepermanent reading scheme in the Southern area of that portion of Turua riding concerned in the good roads scheme Mr. P. Henry waited on the Hauraki Plains County Council on Monday. ''Mr. Henry said with the County engineer and MrjMadgwick he had gone over the roads which would be affected by the scheme. He gave particulars and estimates of the work to be done and the cost, the total of which would be Z 17,886 15s In addition there would be the cost of raising the •loan.
He asked that, the Council do its best to bring the scheme about. It was proposed to delete the Wharepoa Ferry Road as that road would soon cease to be a main road. He mentioned the fact of the proposals being previously turned down and his area (the south) now saw fit to proceed with a scheme of its own. Cr. Mayn considered the proposals quite reasonable. Mr. Henry said the rateable yalue of the area was unimproved. The area was 3,400 acres. Cr. Chatfield moved that the Council approve of the scheme and proceed with it. Cr. Mayn seconded and the motion was carried.
