NGATEA. POST OFFICE COMPLETED. The Nagtea post office is now out of the builder’s hands, and has been passed by the Department’s inspector. It is now left for the telephones and office fittings to be installed and Ngatea will have improved facilities. Though the building could have been a little larger, it is a well finished job, and very compact. There is more room both: for the public an l for the office staff than in the old building, while telegraphic communications can be carried on in secrecy in the sound-proof boxes, of which there are two, one for the public and one for the staff. The doors of the boxes are covered with green baize. The office also contains a writing desk for the public and 26 private letter-boxes.
The furniture and fittings for the office are at present on the wharf. SCHOOL TEACHER.
Miss McGill, successor to Miss Jones at the Ngatea school, arrived from Auckland on Friday, when she took up her duties. MASQUERADE BALL.
The takings at the football club's masquerade ball on Thursday amounted to £22.
