NEW BUILDINGS.

TWO FINE SHOPS' IN BELMONT ROAD. It Is pleasing to record the completion of another block of two new shops in the town. These have just been finished by Messrs Hayward Bros., builders, for Mr W. M. Cullen, and are a distinct credit '.o both-the ownei and the contractors.. They are situated at the corner of Belmont Road and William Street, and directly opposite Messrs Brenan and Co’s, wheelwright shop, and having a frontage of 42 feet to Belmont Road, with 35 feet depth. The walls are of brick and finished with plaster. The corner shop, which is occupied by Mr T. H. Hale, baker, has a return plateglass window with lead lights, the ceiling being of fibrous plaster sheets and battens finished in rimu facings, while the adjoining shop, occupied by Mr J T. Wright, bootmaker, hqs a pressed metal ceiling with facings in rimu. Both shops are smartly fitted out with counters and shelves. The brickwork and plastering was done by Mr Ardern and the decorative work and painting by Mr W. J. Towens. A suspension verandah runs the whole length of the buildings and gives an added appearance to the structrue. The whole work has been carried out in a workman-like manner throughout and reflects credit on the tradesmen employed on the job.
