PROPOSED PRESENTATION.
TO MR F. M, STRANGE. At the meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council on Wednesday a letter was received from the joint secretaries of the presentation committee, Messrs N. J. Ray, Te Aroha,-and RW. Evans, Paeroa, stating that the suggestion that some fitting recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Mr F. M ; . Strange in the formation and subsequent operations of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board had met. with universal approval from all local bodies comprised in the Board’s district, and invited the co-operation of the council in the matter of obtaining subscriptions for the purpose of purchasing such suitable piece of plate for presentation to Mr Strange. The subscriptions were limited .to 2s 6d. A number t rf subscription lists were also received. His Worship said that there can be no question that Mr Strange devoted a lot of time, and it was due to his efforts that Paeroa had the electric light to-day. He commended the list to all in the Paeroa Borough district. Cr. Matt said the idea was to reach everybody, hence the limit of 2s 6d. He would like to see something substantial given to Mr Strange, who worthily deserved recognition for. his services as the chief instigator of the reticulation of electric power in this part of the Dominion. It was decided that members ofj the council sould take a list if they desired. One is to. be placed in the borough office and another in the “Hau-aki Plains Gazette” office.
