COMMUNITY SINGING IN PAEROA.

Sir, —In connection with the above I would like to ask why it is that Paeroa is again to be made dependent upon Thames, for it is reported that t'he two councillors responsible for the arrangements have requested the Rev. Mitchell to lead it,. Surely we have someone competent enough in our own town to do this, and does it augur well for its future success if we are now esteemed to be so lacking in ability that we cannot start it ourselvos ? Our councillors are constantly assuring us that Paeroa is not a suburb of Thames,- yet in tihe very next breath they or their actions tel’ us we are.

Then, Sir, at the Chamber of Commerce when this singing was first mooted. Mr Marshall, who is One of the abovenamed councillors arranging the singing, objected to the name of one of our own ministers being placed on the committee on the ground that the less ministers had to do with it t'he better for its success. Yet now we find him more or less responsible for asking an outside minister to take a leading part at its inception. It seems to me that neither loyalty to townsmen nor. being consistent is a very, strong feature of some of our would-be leaders. DISCORD.
