The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., reports :— At Claudelands sale on Thursday last we had a large entry of cattle, the majority being dairy stock and an average yarding of sheep and pigs. The beef, which consisted solely of cows, and mutton brought good compjtitiqn, beef showing a marked improvement, which was .also reflected in the store pigs. All cows suitable for graziers made 15s to £1 better t;han at recent sales.. Among the dairies were some nice ovality Jersey heifers, but a little op the small side. For these and other heifers there were ready buyers, but tlie cows, with a few exceptions only ordinary quality, were rather dull cf sale. With the young cattle, there was a good sale, Jersey yearlings attracting most attention. .There were not sufficient fat pigs yarded to enable outside buyers to operate, the prices realised being quite up to ruling values. All store pigs sold well. We quote fat ewes 20s 9d to 25s ; a few odd prime sheep £1 7s to £.l 10s ; heavy prime fat cows £4 7s 6d to £5 10s good £3 10s to £4 10s ; other killahle cows £2 17s to £3 5s ; good forward cows for topping off £2 10s to £3 10s, others £1 5s ,to £2 5s ; 1.8muuth to 2-year Jersey heifers £2 5s to £3 10s ; yearling Jersey and Jersey cross heifers £4 to £6 10s ; well done yearling Shorthorn steers £1 15s. Dairy stock: Jersey heifers £l9 to £l2 ss, sn\all and backward £6 5s to £9 10s ; Shorthorn heifers, best, £7 15s to £lO, others £6 to £7 10s ; best cows £8 10s to £l2, good cows £6 10s to £8 ss, ordinary £<4 10s to £6 ss, others £2 to £4
