KIRIKIRI BRIDGE.

o APPLICATION FOR SUBSIDY. MINISTER SYMPATHETIC. At the Thames County Council meeting on Wednesday the chainmail (Mr. H. Lowe) reported on proceedings taken in regard to an application for a subsidy for the proposed Kirikiri bridge. Mr. Lowe said that with MT. Ei, N. Miller (Mayor of Thames) he had gone to Wellington to make an application for a subsidy for the Kirikiri bridge. They had met the Prime Minister and the Minister for Public Works and placed the matter before them. As far as he could ascertain from, the Prime Minister, it was a work to be proceeded with immediately, but it was a matter of finance. A subsidy of not more than £1 for £1 may he given, and he thought that before long a £ for £ subsidy would be placed on the Estimates for the work.
