The addition woulid be very necessary in the event of a teacher’s.residence being erected. The Department was not yet assured that the acquisition of the additional area would be justified. It had, however, been decided to give instructions that no action should, be taken in the meantime with respect to the land in question that would prejudice its acquisition by the Education Board in tftie event of a grant for a residence. It was decided to thank Mr Rhodes for the interest taken in the acquisition of additional land for the sdhobl and to ask him to further assist the committee for the erection of a teacher’s residence and the high school. Advice from the Education Board contained information that m view of the urgent need for additional accommodation in Ngatea arid ether districts, the Board has made an offer to the Minister to provide half Me cost, of the additions out of its lebuildinng fund on the condition that the balance of the cost is defrayed by the Department.
