PEDIGREE JERSEY SALE

MR. E. L WALTERS’ HERD. ALL BRED BY VENDOR. Mr. E. J. Walters, of Hikutaia, who for the past fifteen years has been devoting his energies to establishing a herd of pedigree cattle, announces in our advertisement columns today that his first sale will be held on Wednesday, July 5. Fifteen years ago he purchased his first pair of pedigree Jersey cattle, and has kept to within this year all their female progeny that have been worth whiTe. The old grandmother of the herd, Lady of the Lake, is still hale and hearty at the age of| nineteen ,which says something for constitution. AH the stock to be submitted are her descendants. The bulls used have been. Harvester 36.7, The Medico 386, Golden Campanile 1390 1 (by the same sire as Sultan's Daisy, the world’s record-holder with 9681 b of butten-fat), Pehcarrowfs Jolly Boy 2712, Maid’s Egyptian General 1147, and Grafton Rajah 10263. These have brought into the herd the best blood available, as they trace back to such noted cattle as Golden Lad, Noble of Oakland (the highest priced Jersey bull in the world, and who was sold for £3000), Lady Viola (whose illustrious dam brought £1750), Eminents’ Fontaine, Goddipgton, Golden Swan ,and not forgetting the great sire K.C.8., and other Jersey aristocrats. The fact that Mr. Walters’ 'herd has for the past five years he,ld the highest average test at the Hikutaia factory is something to be proud of, and speaks for itself. The anima;s have been carefully tested and their productive quality is known, so that purchasers will not be buying in the dark or at guesswork. A glance through the catalogue shows that the great champion K.C.B.’s blood is not missing. In ibis day this beast was the greatest butter-fat sire in the Dominion. Mr. Walters will forward catalogues on application and will be pleased to supply intending purchasers with any information regarding the animals in his power. Th? sale is to be held in the Hikutaia yards by the Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Auctioneering Co., Ltd., on July 5, commencing at 11.30 a.m.
