TURUA. WHARF OPENING. It has been definitely announced that the Hon. J. G. Anderson will perform the opening ceremony of Turua wharf on either Saturday, July 8, oc Monday, July IP. TURUA’S OFFICES. The work of erecting the offices for the Turua Building Company is proceeding rapidly apd the roof| and outer walls are in position. When completed this building should relieve the. requirements of the business men who require office accommodation, which before was remarkably scarce. The investment of the contributors should also be a profitable one from a business point of view, for the offices should be continually occupied and tihe L’oard room, which is to be contained in the building, should be frequently used by the various clubs and local organisations for the purpose of* holding their meetings. DANCING CLASSES. Dancing classes have commenced in Turua, and are reported to be very popular, especially among the young folk. They are very well attended. TURUA AND PAEROA. It is the general opinion that Tuma's trade must necessarily go to Thames. This is no doub.t correct with the northern portion, but theie is no reason why the Turua people cannot be induced to shop in Paeroa. By road the distance is shorter from Turua to Paeroa than from Tur,ua to Thames, but it is the wretched state of the roads, especially round Netherton, which keeps the Turua traffic from going to Paeroa. If there was a good main road from Turua to Paeroa there would be some inducement for the settlers at Turua to make Paerca their shopping town, but otherwise the launch facilities across the river are more acceptable to the average settler. In the meantime a little activity and agitation by the Paeroa people may have some effect in hastening improvements tp -he present wretched roads and entice a little of Turuafs trade southwards instead of northwards.
