HAURAKI DRAINAGE.

MEETING OF THE BOARD. A meeting of the Hauraki Drainage Board was held in Turua yesterday, the following attending: Messrs. R. H. Heappy, D. G. McMillan, R. Baker, J. Males' and J. E. Green (secretary). In the absence of the chairman (Mr. G. Gray) Mr Heappy was elected chairman for the meeting. Mr. O. N. Campbell, Chief Drainage Engineer, with reference to the proposals recently placed before Mr. E. Taylor, resident engineer on the Plains, advised that the Department would pay half the cost of the necessary piling and fascining at Tower’s outlet, and also pay half the cost of a new concrete gate on the Kopua-rahi-Turua outlet. It was resolved that the work be carried out, and the-Board send to the local Lands Department engineer the plans and specifications. The matter was left to Messrs. Gray and Mu'es, with power to act. The tender of Mr. McConnell to make a floodgate behind the Turua. boardinghouse for £5O was approved by the local Lands Department engineer and by the Board. The clerk was instructed to point out to the Lands Department engineer that he had omitted to recommend to his Department the payment of half the cost of the installation oil a floodgate at No. 2 Te Kauri drain.
