ATHLETIC CLUB.
FORMED IN PAEROA. A large and enthusiastic meeting was held in the Druids’ Hall, Paeroa last night, at 8 p.m., for the purpose of forming a physical culture and athcltic club. Mr. J. T. Brown presided oyer an attendance of; about thirty. After some discussion it was unanimously resolved that a club be formed, and the following were elected officers: Patron, H. Poland, Esq., M.P.; president, left open for committee to elect; vice-presidents, Messrs Wells, T. P. Vuglar, Shand, D. McWatters, P. E. Brenan, G. S. Talboys, A. Steedman, Curtis J. T. Brown, WBain, Edwin Edwards, Garry, and W. D. Nicholas; ihon. secretary, J. H. Heaitt; treasurer, H. W. Broyd ; club captain, R. B. Penlington ; Ihon. auditor, Mr E. R. Russell; committee, Messrs N. C. Busby, E. R. Russell, D. Leach, R. Irwin, R. B. Penlington, J. T. Blown, and G. H., Taylpr ; hon. instructors, Messrs Hieatt, Eroyd, and Marks. It was decided that .the junior subscription (under 16) be 2s 6d entrance fee and 5s subscriptoin, and for seniors 5s entrance fee and 7s 6d subscription; subscriptions to cover a period from April to September. Until such time as the club is on a sound footing it was decided to hold classes once a week, on Thursday night, in the Druids’ Hall, from 7.30 to 9 o’clock. The first committee meeting pf. the new club will, be held in the Paeroa Engineering Company’s premises on Tuesday nigh.t at 8 p.m., when gymnasium rules and matters concerning instruction will be arranged.
