FARMERS’ UNION.

WAITAKARURU BRANCH. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting, of the Waitakaruru branch of the N.?. Farmers’ Union was, held in Mr. Elliott’s dining room last Thursday, Mr. C. W. Harris presiding. The weather was by no means at its best, and the attendance was consequently small. The balance-sheet submitted by the secretary and treasurer, Mr. N. W. Hedges, showed a credit of £27 16s 7d. The balance-sheet was adopted. Mr. Harris was. re-elected president and Mr. Hedges re-elected secretary of the branch for the ensuing year. Mention was made of the fact that the branch, was now in the fifth year of its existence and Mr. McAlpine, the sub-provincial secretary, had not paid a visit to Waitaka.rurw for four years. The last visit had been made when the Waitakaruru branch had been formed, exactly four, years ago. It wa* also stated that the branch had to pay part of tlie subscriptions to the sub-prpvincial fund, but the branch had derived no benefit from it. On the motion of Messrs French and Williams it was decided to inform the sub-provincial secretary of the fact that he had not paid a visit to Waitakaruru since the formation ofl a branch there, and to invite' him to attend one of; the meetings at the first possible opportunity.
